Build the story around evidence

A graduate resume can be credible without formal full-time experience. Academic projects, internships, volunteering, and part-time work can all provide concrete evidence.

Choose two projects and explain the problem, your contribution, methods, and what you learned. Identify work as academic or personal rather than commercial.

A useful resume structure

Put education near the top when it is your strongest qualification. Include relevant coursework selectively; remove subjects that do not help explain your fit.

Start with your name and contact details, then a short targeted summary. Follow with the most relevant experience or projects, skills you can demonstrate, and education. Use standard headings and consistent dates so readers can navigate quickly.

Write a stronger achievement bullet

The following is a fill-in structure, not a claim to copy as your own. Replace every bracket only with a detail that is true. If you cannot verify a number, describe the scope or outcome in plain language.

Built [academic project] with [tools], owned [specific contribution], and tested [behavior] through [method].

Skills to consider when supported

Relevant coursework, projects, collaboration, communication. Select only the skills you actually possess and that matter for the role. Put important skills in the context of your experience as well as in a short skills section.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not inflate a class assignment into an employer engagement. Avoid generic claims such as “excellent leader” without a supporting example.

Before sending, copy the exported document into a plain-text editor. Check whether headings, dates, and bullets remain in a sensible order. Follow the employer’s requested file format.

Questions worth asking

Can I copy the example bullet?+

Use the structure, then replace placeholders with your own verified contribution. Never claim the illustrated experience unless it is yours.

Should I include every skill listed here?+

No. These are areas to consider. Select relevant skills you can explain and demonstrate in an interview.
